How to make a buttonhole (without fear and with tricks).
If you want to make a buttonhole but don't dare, we're here to help you achieve it!
First of all... remember to put the buttonhole presser foot on your machine!
- Step by step to achieve a perfect buttonhole:
- Fold the fabric in half and insert a pin to mark the center.
- Use a pilot friction to draw a buttonhole about 2 cm.
- Change and place the buttonhole presser foot on your machine. Essential for things to flow!
- With the thread properly placed in the presser foot, start sewing the buttonhole calmly. The machine does the work... but you have the control.
- Cut the threads, press gently and... magic! The pilot friction disappears.
Time to open the buttonhole
- Place a pin at the end of the buttonhole to avoid cutting too far.
- Open it carefully with the seam ripper (or the tip of some fine scissors).
And there you have it: a clean, polished buttonhole ready to show off.
