SEWING Double yoke

The double yoke.

Double Yoke

  1. Cut two pieces for the back yoke and two for the front yoke, as it will consist of an inner and an outer layer.
  2. Place the front yoke pieces against the fabric of the back and arrange them, positioning the outer yoke facing you and adding the back of the garment between the two pieces.
  3. Align the edges well and secure them with pins so they don't move.
  4. Sew the top of the yoke to join it to the back of the garment using a straight stitch.
  5. Now make the "sandwich": roll the fabrics as if they were layers. The fabric of the outer yoke should be facing outwards, and the inner one, inside out.
  6. Sew along the yoke line. Turn it right side out by gently pulling. You now have a yoke with a flawless finish!

TIP: If you're using corduroy, make sure to always cut in the same direction that the fabric is brushed to avoid changes in color or texture.
